Senior Chair Report to the OSRT Board and Membership

I was installed as OSRT Senior Chair in April 2023 and for the past 17 months have guided the organization through periods of great change. Over this time, we have seen the split of the past Annual Meeting structure into the new Student-Educator Symposium, held in April, and as of today, the new Annual Meeting now held in September. This was a huge unertaking! I personally wish to thank every member of the Student Educator Symposium Committee and the Annual Meeting Committee for their hard work in making these changes a reality. It's through the dedication of these people, great things can be accomplished.

We have seen the inception of the Fellows Honor initiative come into being during my term. We've battled issues at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus on many fronts to prevent encroachment of our practice and changes in the radiology state licensure law. With the help of the advocacy committee and Mr. Paul Kudlak, who is our OSRT lobbyist, our voice is strong for the membership and the profession. The radiographer's  licensure law could have been weakened by allowing Advanced Nurse Practitioners the responsibility of overseeing General X-ray Machine Operators practices in their facilities in Ohio. Thankfully, this effort was thwarted and the licensure law was not weakened. We had another successful Statehouse Day in Columbus, and because of our activism and lobbying efforts, Ohio's elected officials know and respect OSRT's opinion as expert and valid regarding Ohio imaging sciences.

As I step down this evening, I am proud of the work that each and every committee member has performed to get us to this point. It has been an honor to serve and leave the board chairperson's position with these new and exciting changes. There have been many more changes over the period through which I have served, but it's not possible to give justice to all of them in this short amount of time. Please remember that as a member, OSRT actively and continuously seeks ways to preserve the profession and promote quality patient care for all of Ohio.

Thank you.

Respectfully,

Gary Greathouse,
Senior Board Chairperson
