ARRT Computed Tomography Examination Content Specifications and Clinical Experience Requirements have gone through the routine five year review period and will change as of July 1, 2017.
Overview of the changes to Content Specificiations include:
Patient Care and Safety is divided into two parts:
- Patient Care;
- Safety.
Physics and Instrumentation Section title has been changed to Image Production and divided into two sections:
- Image Formation;
- Image Evaluation/Archiving.
Procedures Section includes three new subsections:
- Head, Spine and MSK;
- Neck and Chest;
- Abdomen and Pelvis.
Overview of changes to Clinical Experience include:
- Verifiers for procedures was changed to "an ARRT certified and registered technologist or an interpreting physician;"
- Procedures with PET or SPECT in conjuction with CT were removed from eligibility for CT clinical experience;
- Procedures with Radiation Therapy in conjuction with CT planning were removed from eligibility for CT clinical experience;
- Use of IV contrast was added as a requirement for 19 Clinical experience procedures.
