I am Kristin Seitz, and I am the current president of the Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologists.

The Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologists (OSRT) represents over 15,000 registered radiologic technologists across Ohio. These professionals are integral to diagnosing and treating various health conditions through medical imaging. Their expertise in critical thinking and independent judgment ensures accurate and effective imaging, which is vital for identifying and managing illnesses that might otherwise go undiagnosed. Radiologic technologists are educationally prepared, clinically competent, and dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care while minimizing radiation exposure. Their work helps bridge the gap between accurate diagnosis and effective treatment, underscoring the importance of their role in the healthcare system.

The role of the radiologic technologist in the modern healthcare industry is rapidly evolving, driven by the increasing demand for advanced imaging technology and the increasing implementation and use of artificial intelligence. This evolution has made radiologic technologists more indispensable and has necessitated more specialized skills. Therefore, the Standard Occupational Classification for radiologic technologists must be reconsidered to accurately reflect the increasing professional responsibilities of this occupation. Moreover, the fact that technologists’ therapy counterparts, radiation therapists, are already classified as professionals, and they ensure a similar level of patient management and critical thinking as radiologic technologists every day, further underscores the urgency of this reclassification.

Because radiologic technologists are a vital part of the overall healthcare team, we urge the Office of Management and Budget to recognize them as professionals under 29-2030. This would more accurately reflect the actual practice of this vital healthcare role and ensure that this profession is properly characterized.

Respectfully,

Kristin Seitz, BSMI,RT(R)(MR)(CT)(MRSO)(MRSC)
President, Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologists
